This winery von Othegraven is a traditional winery in the Rheinland-Pfalz area of Kanzem at the Saar, in the Mosel wine-growing region. If Günter Jauch is on the spot at his von Othegraven estate, he will also personally welcome us. The origins of the estate date back 500 years. The winery is specialized in Riesling and cultivates approximately 15 hectares of vineyards. In family ownership it came in the year 1805 – www.von-othegraven.de

Day 2: Friday, 25.05.18

On Friday after breakfast we will have the transfer to Sankt Martin. After our arrival in Sankt Martin we will have a Light Lunch.

And then we will get to know the winery Aloisiushof. Alois Kiefer is a traditional family business founded in 1950 by Alois and Rita Kiefer. Michael Kiefer is responsible for the management of the 21 hectares of vineyards. The vinification is in the hands of Bernhard and son Philipp Kiefer. Andreas Kiefer is responsible for the technical area. The wine and sparkling wine house Aloisius Kiefer vinifies a wide range of grape varieties, there are Riesling, different Pinot varieties and also international grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon. In the vineyard 50% of the cultivation area is planted with white wine vines and 50% of the area with red wine vines. The main varieties are Riesling, Pinot blanc and Pinot Noir. After the cellar visit, dinner will be at the winery, of course with the wines from their own production.

Sitting under an old chestnut tree and listening to the rippling of the fountain in the park – this is real luxury! This is the way to enjoy life. And if there are now also excellent wines, you are in paradise or in the vinotheque Villa In Paradise. After the interesting lesson in the morning the visit of the sparkling wine cellar Motzenbäcker in Deidesheim is just right and we will get to know more about the unique sparkling wine production according to the “method Rurale”. These sparkling wines have top level and Mrs. Marie Menger-Krug is looking forward to tasting these sparkling wines together with us. – http://villa-im-paradies.de

For this night we have chosen the 4*Steigenberger Hotel in Deidesheim. After the check in we will have a Wine-Dinner at the Vinothek of Dr. Bürklin-Wolf

Day 3: Saturday, 26.05.18

After a nice breakfast from the buffet, our bus will take us to Vogtsburg. where we visit the wine estate Karl H. Johner in Vogtsburg. – www.http://johner.de/ – In 1985 Karlheinz Johner, after ten years working abroad, together with his wife Irene founded this winery in the „Kaiserstuhl-area“. His models were the wines from Burgundy – full of power and yet with the highest elegance. The burgundies were much more complex and more modern than the red wines, which had been produced in the Kaiserstuhl region so far. First, the new way of winemaking was very suspiciously observed by both the wine growers and the authorities. Despite all oppositions, the young winery soon established itself as a pioneer of the new German wine style with an international format. The winery Karl H. Johner, with 17 hectares of cultivated land, is today under the direction of son Patrick as a pearl of the Pinot Noir producers. We are looking forward to being a guest at Karl H. Johner and looking to taste his wines.

At noon we will have a light lunch and then continue driving to the winery Martin Waßmer in Bad Krozingen. www.weingut-wassmer.de – Bad Krozingen is situated in the Markgräflerland. The sun-drenched fertile Markgräflerland is a historic cultural landscape with a thousand-year-old tradition of wine, which is also called Tuscany of Germany, because of its climatic peculiarity. Martin Waßmer, after completing his apprenticeship as a cook, further training seminars and practical experience in other wineries, decided in 1998 to produce wine by himself. Its wines are almost exclusively dry and, if possible, fermented with their natural yeasts. All wines remain particularly long on the yeast lie, the maturity takes place in the style and tradition of the Burgundy wines. All red wines are grown in a wooden barrel, top quality in barrique.

After the wine tasting in the winery of Martin Wassmer we continue the journey home, so that we arrive before 8 pm in Zurich area.
