Program
Day 1 – Welcome to Lisbon: Charm, History & Fado Nights
Our Alentejo journey begins in Lisbon — Portugal’s vibrant capital where old-world charm and rich heritage come alive. After checking into the elegant Turim Terreiro do Paço Hotel, nestled by the Tejo River, we’ll embark on a guided walking tour through the historic heart of the city. From the grand Praça do Comércio and Arco da Rua Augusta to the breathtaking views atop Castelo de São Jorge, Lisbon will enchant at every turn.
As twilight settles over the city, we’ll explore the soulful alleys of Alfama, where tradition lingers in the air. The evening culminates with an unforgettable welcome dinner and live Fado performance at Clube de Fado — an authentic cultural and culinary experience to begin our journey in true Portuguese style.
Day 2 – Sacred Gardens, Iconic Wines & Riverside Views
We begin the day with a scenic drive to Bacalhôa Buddha Eden, Europe’s largest oriental garden, where serene landscapes, terracotta warriors, and towering Buddhas invite peaceful reflection. A short visit to the nearby Bacalhôa Wines of Portugal estate offers a casual tasting and a glimpse into one of the country’s most celebrated wine producers.
By afternoon, we journey to Quinta São João Batista, located within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Paul do Boquilobo, where nature and sustainability meet. The evening brings us to the refined Santarém Hotel, where panoramic views of the Tejo River and a delicious Portuguese dinner await — the perfect end to a day that blends tranquility, heritage, and taste.
Day 3 – Historic Estates & Timeless Évora
Our morning begins at the beautiful Quinta da Lagoalva de Cima, where we’ll enjoy a guided tour through the vineyards and wine cellars, followed by tastings of their elegant wines and regional delicacies. The estate’s historic carriage collection and horse-breeding legacy add a touch of noble charm to the experience.
In the afternoon, we stroll through the UNESCO-listed city of Évora, exploring landmarks such as the Temple of Diana, Évora Cathedral, and the ancient aqueduct. For those who wish, a visit to the Enoteca Cartuxa offers a quiet pause with a glass of wine. As evening falls, we check into the luxurious Convento do Espinheiro Hotel & Spa and enjoy a gourmet dinner, surrounded by the beauty and history of this restored 15th-century monastery.
Day 4 – Megaliths, Modern Wines & Castle Living
Day 4 takes us deep into the mystique of Alentejo with a morning visit to the Almendres Cromlech, one of Europe’s most significant megalithic sites. Surrounded by cork oak trees and aligned with the stars, this ancient site provides a captivating link to Portugal’s prehistoric past.
Next, we visit Fitapreta Vinhos, a cutting-edge winery inside a restored medieval palace. A premium “Wine Geek” tasting and light lunch introduce us to their bold, expressive wines. In the afternoon, Quinta do Quetzal enchants with its scenic vineyards and contemporary art gallery nestled in Vidigueira’s sunlit hills. We end our day in royal style at the Pousada Castelo de Alvito, a 15th-century castle where we’ll dine in the historic dungeons and experience the magic of Alentejo’s culinary traditions.
Day 5 – Vineyards, Ocean Breezes & Coastal Trails
Our morning unfolds at the idyllic Herdade dos Grous, where tranquil lakes and lush vineyards create a breathtaking setting for a winery tour and gourmet lunch paired with estate wines. This serene estate offers a taste of Alentejo’s agricultural elegance and sustainable winemaking.
By mid-afternoon, we’ll arrive at Enigma – Nature & Water Hotel in São Teotónio. After a moment of rest, we’ll head out on a scenic 3.3 km coastal walk from Porto das Barcas to Zambujeira do Mar, capturing the raw beauty of the Atlantic cliffs. The day concludes with a seafood feast at Costa Alentejano Restaurant, where fresh mariscos and Portuguese flavors shine — a perfect fusion of sea and soil.
Day 6 – Coastal Wines, Vintage Treasures & Farewell in Cascais
Our final day begins at Vicentino Winery, where sea breezes and Atlantic fog shape expressive coastal wines. After a guided tour and tasting paired with a light lunch, we continue to Caves Velhas – Bucelas, home to Portugal’s legendary Arinto wines. Here, we’ll enjoy a rare Vertical Premium Tasting, sampling vintages that trace back to 1982, beautifully paired with local cheeses and charcuterie.
As the sun sets, we travel to the charming coastal town of Cascais. At 8:00 p.m., we gather for a heartfelt farewell dinner at the hotel — a time to reflect on the friendships, flavors, and unforgettable memories gathered over six days of immersive travel.
Day 7 – Adeus, Portugal: Until We Meet Again
As morning light falls over the Portuguese coast, we gather one last time — not just as travelers, but as companions who’ve shared a truly enriching journey. With a final toast and warm goodbyes, we reflect on the unforgettable moments, breathtaking landscapes, and exquisite wines that defined our week together.
Soon after, guests will depart for their return flights, carrying not only bottles of wine, but cherished memories, new friendships, and the enduring spirit of Portugal in every story and sip.
